Carden turned 7!

How did I forget to post this? Carden turned 7 forever ago! And being the kid that he is, all he wanted was a lego birthday party.  Thank goodness for Winco bulk candies!  He was pretty happy with this lego building cake, and I think it turned out ok.  We built lego cars and raced them down a track, played minute to win it games, and had cake and ice cream.  Overall it was fun, but I learned that we had too many kids for such hot weekend! No on wanted to play outside and it was waaaay to crowded in our house.

Some things about this big kid:

He is in the first grade, which is now in the lower elementary classroom at his Montessori.
It was big big transition to the classroom, much harder than I thought it would be.  He went from being the oldest to the youngest and he struggled with finding his place at first, but now he loves it.

He has only lost one more tooth.  He lost his bottom two when he was five and just barely lost one top one.

He loves egg sandwiches.  He asks for them every day for breakfast.  Toast with butter and scrambled egg on top.

He loves to play soccer and dodgeball for recess.

He is a great great reader, although he doesn't like to read at home or with me.

Science and math are still his favorites.  He loves rock and volcanoes and any natural disaster really.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is his favorite, just like me :)

His best friends are Michelle and Uzo who live across the cul de sac.  Lots of time with friends now.

He thinks he still loves the things he did before, but then finds out he's getting to big for them.  We went to Vertuccios Farms this year, which was something he waited for all year, he loved it so much. This year, he became bored with the activities. I think he surprised himself how much he grew up.  I don't think he ever thought he would outgrow a train ride.

Helping

Tanner reminds me a lot of Carden.  No matter what I'm doing, he needs to help me.  It's a constant battle over the vacuum and the mop and the dishes and cleaning the mirrors, and on and on.  And if I do something without him, he lets the whole world know how mad he is about it.  But looks how happy he is when he gets to help me out.  I think he was in heaven with this cart at Winco. He smiled the whole way through the grocery store.

I like to swing

The best thing about Carden and David being enrolled in sports is that Chloe and Tanner get lots of park time.  I don't spend the whole morning with them outside like I did with the older boys, so I"m liking that they get a couple of hours after school a few days a week.  Swings are apparently a hit with these two. Lots and lots of smiles.

Whatever she's holding, there has to be one for each hand.

Avocados are best served messy.

Rock climbing and tumbling class

Last fall the boys took a tumbling class at the rec center in Gilbert.  We always had some time between school getting out and class starting, so we would hang out at the rec center and play fooseball and climb the rock wall.  Carden and David were both so hesitant at first and would only climb the first 10 feet or so, but eventually it was DAVID who made it all the way to the top and rang the bell.  He was so so proud of himself for doing something that Carden couldn't.  BTW, it was 43 feet tall, so I'm pretty sure he did something his mom couldn't do either...

Citrus picking

The kids love love to pick citrus.  We found a lady nearby who had trees loaded with tangerines and oranges and they went to town.  They tried to sell it to make some money for a nerf gun, but the was widly unsucessful, so we shared with friends instead.

The Tan-man

Dinosaur boots, Froggy backpack, and the oh so important batman jammies.  I heart this kid so much.
